In India, especially in North India, it is very famous as street food in the young generation. “Momo” is a Chinese word; it means “steamed bread”. It is quite similar to Chinese dumplings. But its origin is in Tibet. There are many reasons behind its fame. The price of one plate momo varies from ten rupees to hundred rupees. One plate is enough for admission on an empty stomach. Its taste is one of the reasons to increase its popularity. It has a unique and original taste that can make anyone’s mouth water after hearing the word “momo”.

How To Make Chicken Momos?

You can make easily momo at home with very few tools through our recipe. Please follow the whole ingredients below to make your momo perfect.

For Preparing The Dough:

1 Minced and Boiled Chicken 400 grams
2 Salt as required
3 Soya sauce 1 tablespoon
4 Black Pepper ½ tablespoon
5 Chopped Green Chili 2 pieces
6 Ginger Garlic Paste ½ tablespoon
7 Chopped Spring Onion 7 - 8 pieces
8 Smoked Hot Vegetable Oil 1 tablespoon

Step By Step Process:

Please follow these steps given below:

#1. Prepare The Dough: For making the dough, first, take the flour in a container then add the salt to it and mix them very well. After mixing they perfectly add the water little by little. Then you have to mix the whole thing perfectly to make a soft and smooth dough and ensure that there are no lumps inside. At last, leave it covered for an hour.

#2. Wash And Chopped The Vegetables: To begin, clean the vegetables with lukewarm water. Then take them on a chopping board and chopped them separately. For preparing the ginger garlic paste, take them on a mixer grinder and roll it.

#3. Boil And Mince The Chicken: After washing the chicken with lukewarm water properly, take it on a pan full of salted water and boil it for 15-20 minutes. Then take it out of the oven and let it cool. Now take it on a chopping board and mince it with help of a knife. You can also use a grinder to mince it.

#4. Prepare The Chicken Stuffing: Now it’s time to make the chicken filling. Take the minced and boiled chicken, and then add salt, Soya sauce, black pepper, Chopped green chili, ginger garlic paste, and Chopped spring onion. Then mix them very well. Now add smoked hot vegetable oil and mix it with help of a spoon. The chicken filling is ready now.

#5. Prepare The Dough And Fill It With Chicken Stuffing: At first, take the dough and apply oil on its outer surface. Now roll out small pieces out of it. Then using a rolling pin, flatten the small dough balls in a round shape. After that add the chicken stuffing to the middle and close the edges. Give the closed edges a wavy shape to make momo. Repeat the same process with the other dough balls.

#6. Steam The Momos: Transfer the shaped momo to a steamer and steamed it for 20 minutes. If you don’t have any steamer, take a pan to the oven and fill half of the pan with water. When it’s boiling, use aluminum foil with too many leaks and put it on the pan. Make sure that the water of the pan can’t touch the foil. Now the transfer the shaped momo on the foil and steamed it until it looks soft and juicy. Now decorate and serve the momo with chutney and soup.

Mistakes while making momo at home you should have to avoid are below in detail. Make sure to follow these points.

1. Make sure that there are no lumps inside the dough. Otherwise, your momo will not be made perfect.

2. Do not make the dough too soft or too hard. Otherwise, it will be difficult to flatten the small dough balls.

3. The edges of the flattened ball should always be thin and the middle part should be thick.

4. In the case of steaming, if you use a pan, make sure that the water of the pan can’t touch the foil.
