How To Make Dahi Vada or, Doi Bora?

Making Dahi vada is easier than you think just follow these steps below and make your own delicious vada. At first, take a look at the ingredients.

For Making The "Vada or, Bora":

6 Fennel Seeds 1 tablespoon
7 Asafoetida 1 pinch

For Making The "Curd Mixture":

3 Black Salt ½ tablespoon
4 Chaat Masala 1 tablespoon
5 Mixture Of Dry Chilli Powder And Cumin Powder ½ tablespoon
6 Sugar 2 tablespoon

1 Sweet Tamarind Chutney as required
2 Green Coriander Chutney as required
3 Chaat Masala 1 pinch
4 Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder 1 pinch
5 Sev as required

Step By Step Process:

Preparing The "Vada or, Bora":

#1. At first, wash the Urad Dal and soak this in water overnight.

#2. Now drain the extra water from the dal and then take it on a blender. Put the green chilies and ginger on the blender and add ½ cup of water. Then blend all the ingredients smoothly and make a thick paste.

#3. Now take it in a bowl and add some salt on it. Next, whisk the lentil paste with a help of a hand-whisker for 4-5 minutes to make it very light and fluffy.

#4. Now take oil in a pan for fry and heat it. After checking that the oil is hot enough for frying, take out a small portion of the batter and drop it into the hot oil.

#5. Fry the BORA over a medium to low flame. Once they are nicely fried, they turn into golden brown. If they color like that then take it out on a paper towel.

#6. Take some lukewarm water in a pot and drop fennel seeds and asafoetida into it.

#7. Now drop the fried bora in this water and left them to soak in this water for a minimum of 15 minutes.

Preparing The "Curd Mixture":

#8. At first, take the curd in a bowl. Now mix salt, black salt, chaat masala, dry chilli powder, cumin powder, and sugar with it.

#10. Now the curd is ready, keep it in the refrigerator to make it perfectly cool.

Preparing The "Serving Pot":

#11. Take some squeezed bora on a serving plate. Then pour the curd mixture over it. Now add the green coriander chutney and sweet tamarind chutney on it.

#12. After that, sprinkle some Kashmiri red chilli powder and Chaat Mashala over it. At last, garnish it with some sev. Now it is ready to serve.

Mistakes To Avoid:

You have reached the last point of making delicious Dahi vada so at this point I will tell you the basic mistakes that you should have to avoid no matter what. Take a look at these points.

1. Soak the Urad dal for a minimum of 8-9 hours for making the smooth batter.

2. Make a thick batter for a perfect bora or, vada.

3. Take some water in a glass and drop a little part of the whisked batter into it. If the batter immediately starts to float on top of the water then it is ready to fry.

4. Before taking the batter for dropping into the oil, wet hand with water. Otherwise, it stuck with hand.

5. Make sure that the flame is on medium to low.

6. Notice the quantity of the batter because, after frying, it’s double in size.
